A Positive Approach for Fiona*
After assessment, a decision was taken that Fiona* was to come to Yew Trees. There had been some discussion as to whether a forensic service was more appropriate for her needs, but it was decided that the environment at Yew Trees could be a more positive step for Fiona* than a more secure setting.
Fiona* felt that she had been let down in many ways and that there had not been consistency in her care. She had lost her faith that a service could provide the care and support she needed and felt as though she had nothing to look forward to.
The team at Yew Trees worked closely with Fiona* and her family in order to build a positive relationship and rebuild trust. This approach helped Fiona* to gain confidence in the support and care she was receiving and allowed her to focus on herself. She gained greater independence, and through a structured approach, she was able to move to a supported home and she now attends college.
