Spectacular Shining Star Staff Recognition Awards


Our Shining Star Awards, held last month, was a spectacular night celebrating everything our amazing staff teams do to provide the best quality of care for the people we support.

The night began in style with bubbly and photos by a rather energetic photographer! This was followed by a 3 course meal before the serious business of announcing the amazing winners. The room was filled with anticipation as Mel Ramsey, our Chief Executive Officer and Efi Hershkovitz, our Chairman stood up to open the ceremony.

This event is the third of its kind, where we recognise those members of the team who go the extra mile and have demonstrated outstanding commitment and contribution to the people we support.


The judging was made particularly difficult as the quality of the entries was so high, but the panel were thrilled and humbled by the many inspiring stories. This year we had an outstanding number of entries from both divisions, in excess of 650, so thank you to everyone who nominated.

These nominations came from the people we support, family carers and team members, and the judging was completed by two panels of judges. The judging team was made up of a few members of our senior management team, but also included Paul and Bev, two people we support in the North East, who work in our York office, as well as Bill & Trudi Nicol, our Scottish representatives from the Family Carer Forum.


Unfortunately, not everyone could be a regional or overall winner. However, in some categories that were the most difficult to decide between the huge number of worthy entries, we have a number of people and teams who were highly commended and who have only just missed out on being the regional winner.

The atmosphere on the night was one of achievement and pride at the fantastic work our teams do. All our winners received huge rounds of applause and people were genuinely excited for them, even if they were not from their service, as they knew that each winner was making a real difference for the people they support.

The night was capped off with some enthusiastic dancing, with the dance floor full for the rest of the evening. What a brilliant night – we can’t wait for next year already!
