Announcing Our Christmas Card Competition Winners

Christmas Card 1The annual Danshell Christmas Card competition has seen over 120 cards flying in to the York Central Support Office, filling the place with glitter and colour. Service user representatives from around the country came to York to help with our jolly judging day, dressed in their best Christmas jumpers.

Everyone enjoyed some fun Christmas crafts making baubles and decorations they took back to their service to decorate for the festive season. This was followed by a tasty spread before the judging began.

Each person had 6 votes to decide who they wanted to win the competition. The designs impressed our judges and it was incredibly hard for each person to choose their favourites. We had a number of runners up who received 5 or more votes each and we would like to say a huge well done to each of you:

In 3rd place is Nigel from Trinity House, Lockerbie, who worked hard with painted thumbprints and pipe cleaners to create a card featuring Santa and his sleigh.

This was such a tightly contested competition, we had two cards
tie for 2nd place!

One 2nd place winner was Gregory, also from Trinity House, who created a bright green card with bold Rudolph the red nosed reindeer design.

Our other 2nd place winner was David from Newbus Grange, Darlington, with his glitter-filled card, featuring gold sparkly snow and a smiley snowman.

Christmas Card 3In 1st place was a joint effort from everyone at Cedar Vale, East Bridgford. Congratulations to all the service users at Cedar Vale, whose fabulous card included everyone’s hand prints, making up the shape of a Christmas tree. This creative card wowed our judges, who awarded it with a winning 16 votes.

Congratulations to everyone who took part – it was a fantastic day and each design was brilliant. A special well done goes to our winners. All four of our 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners will have their cards printed and sent to each of our services to post out to friends, families, commissioners, social workers and other contacts.
