The team at Cedar Vale specialist autism hospital in East Bridgford have been working hard to create more personal touches around the living spaces so that they feel more homely and showcase some of the amazing work that goes on in the service on a daily basis. They decided that the meeting room was a great space to show families, commissioners and all visitors examples of their excellent practice.
Using some of the key words and phrases from the Danshell values, the team created a wall of words and accompanied them with photos of people engaging in various activities to demonstrate those values. The photos will be changed regularly to showcase the amazing meaningful engagement the team support people to achieve.
The sensory room has also undergone a revamp thanks to general maintenance assistant Dave and domestic assistant Calum. They have gone the extra mile to make the room as interactive and engaging as possible, using offcuts from Cedar Vale’s suppliers and local carpet shops to create an interesting tactile environment. Everyone loves the astroturf in particular! The team would like to say a huge thank you to Dave and Calum for their enthusiasm in this project.
