    A MIDLANDS nurse’s pioneering practice has seen him shortlisted for two prestigious awards. Warren Cocker, who developed an innovative programme to help people with learning disabilities and autism access healthcare screening, has been shortlisted as a finalist for The Learning Disability Nurse Award at both the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards 2018 and at the RCNi Nurse Awards 2018. 

  • Inspire MeHollyhurst, a care home in Darlington has hosted its first Inspire Me Day this month and have had really positive feedback from the people they support and the staff team. The aim of the day was for everyone to work together and come up with fresh ideas of new activities to take part in. These would be for both in the community and within Hollyhurst, helping everyone to get inspired, have a go at activities they find interesting and try new things.

  • Katrina McArthur

    Katrina McArthur is Service Manager at Wallace Hospital. Katrina is always focused on improving life for her team and the people they support. A common theme across the many nominations for Katrina was that she is always there for her team, boosting their confidence and making everyone feel valued, which has created a fantastic team spirit within the service.

  • Kirsty Dale

    Kirsty Dale is Service Manager at Trinity House. Kirsty inspires respect with her open door policy. She is a great role model and leads by example, approaching every day with a positive, supportive attitude. She is a real believer in positive behaviour support, which was praised in many of the nominations we received.

    Lorraine Platt is Activities Coordinator at Trinity House. Lorraine advocates for equal opportunities and works to break down barriers. She was praised for ensuring people feel happy and fulfilled, as well as for treating each person as an individual and supporting them to achieve their goals. Her cheery outlook and positive attitude always raises the team’s spirits and motivates others to do their best.

    Our award-winning Consultant Nurse Amy Childs has received further recognition after being named as ‘Rising Star’ at the prestigious LaingBuisson awards.

Each service was allocated tasks to bring the day together, with the service users helping out.

    We are delighted to announce that Wast Hills hospital in Kings Norton, Birmingham, has received Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society.  Wast Hills has demonstrated its commitment to understanding autism and that the hospital is setting the standard for autism practice.

    Neil Young is our Site Services Manager. Always willing to go the extra mile, Neil tries his best to get things done as soon as possible. He goes above and beyond, supporting people within our services even though it isn’t part of his job. He is reliable, honest and very hardworking with a positive attitude.

  • Dale Lawrence 2018We are delighted to announce that we have appointed a new Medical Director, Dr Dale Lawrence. Dr Lawrence joined the clinical team at specialist autism service Wast Hills, near Birmingham, in 2008.

    Service users and staff at Newbus Grange, one of our services near Darlington, have shown their charitable spirit and raised more than £5,000 for good causes during 2016.
