At Danshell, we are passionate about developing our staff, taking the time to ensure staff are getting the most out of their job. We also recognise that our staff are our greatest asset and that we need to invest in the right training for them to achieve excellent care for the people we support.

We pride ourselves on the continual support and development of all our staff. We have a ‘Danshell Academy Learning and Development Strategy’ to ensure we build on the energy and commitment of staff by ensuring they have the right skills and knowledge to make their unique contribution to the organisation and those we support.

The strategy focuses on key resources that strengthen the learning and development opportunities we provide for our staff, as well as for service users and their family carers. We believe this is a unique approach that recognises the importance of the partnership between our staff, the service users they support, and their families. We know that quality care and support is further improved by ensuring the confidence and knowledge of everyone involved.


New Staff

For those that are beginning their journey with us, we offer a comprehensive induction programme, with a blended learning approach. New starters are supported to attend a two-day corporate induction, which includes Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training. This is complimented with access to our e-learning portal. In addition, new employees will receive training in Emergency First Aid and Maybo. In line with guidance from Skills for Care, all Support Workers who are brand new to the Health and Social Care Sector are supported to complete the Care Certificate, which is assessed by a competent member of staff.


Existing Staff

Existing staff are supported to maintain their skills, knowledge and competencies by completing regular refresher training to ensure that we are maintaining compliance with our regulatory bodies. In addition to the mandatory training, we offer specific training to support the clinical needs of our service users.

We are keen to provide learning and development opportunities above and beyond the minimum standards, including supporting employees to obtain formal qualifications relevant to their roles and responsibilities. In addition we also support those who are looking to progress and develop their career by providing relevant leadership and management training.
