Ducks Halt Has A New Registration

Ducks Halt hero 640x427We are delighted to announce that Ducks Halt in Kirby-le-Soken has been newly developed and changed registration with the CQC. A series of positive changes has seen Ducks Halt, a specialist service for people with learning disabilities, re-registered as a residential service.

Ducks Halt previously provided care and support for women living with a learning disability in a registered hospital setting. As part of the team’s drive to create the least restrictive and most inclusive support environments for people wherever possible, and in line with the Transforming Care Agenda, Ducks Halt was then registered as a residential service with nursing support.

Now in this latest positive change, we have evolved our service provision again to best meet the needs of the people we support. Ducks Halt will now offer residential support without nursing for up to five men or women.

Ducks Halt offers a care pathway from nearby sister service Yew Trees, which provides assessment, treatment and support in a hospital setting.

Our Chief Executive Officer, Mel Ramsey, said, “Ducks Halt has positively evolved from an independent hospital providing assessment and treatment for people with a learning disability through to its new registration of a residential service, which is fantastic.

“This journey demonstrates our commitment not just to the Transforming Care Agenda, but also shows we want to create services which best reflect people’s needs and offer the least restrictive environment for the people we support.

“Its new registration helps us offer people a community-based and community-focused service, including people ready to move on from a hospital environment, helping ensure that people’s discharges are not delayed due to the lack of community services.”
